Omega-3 polyunsaturated long-chain fatty acids (ω-3 PUFAs) have been documented to inhibit or even prevent cancer. Epidemiological evidence strongly links fish oil (rich in docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) and eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA)) with low incidences of several types of cancer. The inhibitory effects of ω-3 PUFAs on cancer development and progression are supported by studies using cultured cells and animal models.
